Another Republican has entered the race for the District 1 Hillsborough County Commission seat. And, no, it's not Sandy Murman, who has said she's considering making a run for the post. It's Margaret Iuculano. Iuculano is vice president of the Florida advocacy group Foster Care Alumni Association and CEO of a Microsoft training and consulting company, according to her Facebook page.
Iuculano will face Trey Rustmann, a project director at Kforce, in the Republican primary. Tampa City Council member John Dingfelder, a Democrat, is also running for the seat.
The mission of Foster Care Alumni of America is to connect the alumni community and to transform policy and practice, ensuring opportunity for people in and from foster care.
“I look forward to my new role as Vice President of the FCAA Florida Chapter and working to make a positive difference in our foster care system,” says Margaret Iuculano. “As a former foster care child myself, I bring my unique experiences to help improve the lives of foster kids.”
Margaret Iuculano, Founder and Acting Director of Angels for Foster Kids (www.angelsforfosterkids.com), explains that Angels for Foster Kids works to provide emergency shelters for abused children and emergency financial support for families in crisis. In addition, they support child service programs designed to enhance foster children’s opportunities for success, improve their education, personal skill development, and living conditions.
